Writing Challenge: Four Random Words

This evening’s R-SPEC meeting was titled “Generating Story Ideas” and discussed many sources of inspiration (including this blog, thank you very much!) One idea was to simply approach someone and, without telling them why, ask them to give you four words. Then take those words and write a story somehow based on them. You could use those words in the story, for instance, or let them suggest something else, or whatever.

The next R-SPEC meeting (July 2 from 7:00 – 9:00 PM at the Pittsford Barnes and Noble) is their “Reading Meeting” where participants read a sample of their work. It was decided that whatever you write for this “Four Random Words” prompt is what you should read.

At one point in the meeting I showed everyone a name tag I was wearing that says “Will Work For Pie” (please don’t ask!) which is four words, so if you don’t have another source of four random words you can use those.

Kind of a different challenge, don’t you think? Oh, and you don’t have to go read your piece to the R-SPEC meeting, but please write something and link it to here, OK?
