Writing Prompt: My Own Worst Enemy

Pick a character, any character. They can be yours or someone else’s, popular or unknown. Change one thing about them. It can be a skill they possess, a personality trait, a physical feature or ability, whatever; the scale of the change is up to you. Take this altered character and set it against the original. What happens? What are each of the characters thoughts on the other, on the conflict between them? How do minor changes escalate to affect other things about the character?

  1. Sounds a lot like the old Star Trek episode “Let That Be Your Last Battlefield”. Difficult for me to choose what characteristic to alter.
