This is an auspicious day. It’s the convolution of two national holidays – Superbowl Sunday and Groundhog Day – and thus the perfect time to kick off a real celebration – the First Ever RocNaNo 1,667 Words Story Contest!
What is the 1,667 Words Story Contest? It’s an opportunity for you to win a prize for a single day’s worth of NaNoWriMo effort. (We’re big NaNoWriMo fans here!)
Our first challenge:
Write a short story where your protagonist finds himself trapped in a situation he can’t escape. No matter what happens, things reset and he finds himself back at the beginning. Or he’s in a situation that seems strangely familiar, and tries something new.
So, spend some time during all the car commercials this afternoon/evening going over story ideas with your friends. Draw inspiration from the game’s progress (or lack thereof) or the wacky commercials. Use the musical interlude at halftime to sketch out some ideas, then write! At least the day won’t be a total blow-out.
When you have a story fleshed out, send it in via the RocNaNo 1,667 Words Story Contest Entry form on or before the 15th of the month. Got more than one? Send ’em all in!
Got questions? Check out the Contest Rules and FAQ. Or go ahead and leave a comment below.
I look forward to seeing what you come up with!
